well, if the house is burning. i know without thinking which guitar i am grabbing...

the p-1, s/n 009, has changed my life. i no longer gas for 'that' guitar. in fact, i sold my *****, and both ******* ( Note - Makers name were deleted by John Page Guitars), and others soon after the p-1 came to live with me.

cons- can't think of any, maybe someday i will try new pickups or change the pick guard from tortoise shell to gold metal pickguard.

pro's---lively resonant tone... i mean i sold my ***********!!!!
---feels terrific to hold and play, contoured front helps, fat offset neck is incredible to play. John nailed the neck on this guitar, nailed it.
--- tone shines through all amps... i love the hard tail more every day.

i so want another page anything. but please don't tell anyone i said any of this... before i come up with the money for a deposit for one more (at least) page guitar. (me thinks Sv sounds good).

John thanks for putting your heart into this guitar, it shows and it sounds like it. i can not say enough in words how much i love this guitar. peace

Well, the Celt arrived safe and sound a few days ago so I thought I would put some words of feedback up on the forum with my thoughts on her. Opening up the Calton, I was floored by the finish. The quilt top is incredible, but the finishing work on the guitar is unbelievable. It's so deep you are tempted to try and reach inside of her. The nickle-silver pick guard is ultra cool and as I discovered last night, blinding when the lights hit it!lol Ron Thorn's inlay on the neck is amazing as well. That guy knows his stuff! The ash back is gorgeous too!
I played her acoustically for the first few hours just to get to know her a bit more intimately - could we have considered this foreplay???lol The neck is absolutely perfect. The Tru Oil finish was a real gamble for me and I'm so glad we did it. This baby is lightening fast! I find the lacquer on the back of most guitar necks to be inhibiting. To me they just feel sticky usually and there is none of that happening here. The fret work and set up by JW is fabulous too. I went over her with a fine tooth comb looking for all the little tell-tale signs of someone cutting corners. You know them, sloppy neck joints, sharp edges on a couple of frets, a little glue bleed here and there, finishing checks, etc. but I found nothing. I wouldn't have expected anything bad from John, but it's easy to miss one little thing here and there, but nope - flawless.
Plugging her in, I checked her out through a couple of amps that I love, a Tophat Super Deluxe 2x12 and my old Vox AC30 and she was amazing. My 1st impression was how quiet she ran even with the single coils in action. The Suhr's are killer pickup's, no doubt about it. The tonal range is fabulous. I particularly like running the bridge with the neck in single coil and in humbucking mode. The neck pup on the single coil selection is gorgeous! It's been probably over 20 years since I've used a guitar outfitted with anything but single coils for my principle axe, but the bucker sounds killer and has a lot of balls to it! Very full, great dynamic range. They do an excellent job of picking up the articulation of this amazing instrument. It's great to be able to play a chord and actually hear individual notes ringing and chiming through. Maybe this is a lot to do with the sparkle the Brazilian adds? I don't know, but whatever it is, it works like crazy.
Brought her out for her first show last night. I hauled my old G&L ASAT Classic along as a "just in case" thing, but after more than a decade of being my go-to girl, it's sadly now relegated to the second in command. I love the G&L's and have a couple of them that I've played to death, but when I A/B'd them with the JP, they were beat up miserably. I've always considered these to be the best standard production line guitars on the market (for me anyway), and I guess it goes to show you what delving into the "boutique" market can do for you. I'm glad I did, that's for sure! John, I can't thank you enough for designing and getting the Celt up and running for me. It's perfection that has been sawed, fretted and strung up. I can't think of one thing I would do differently and what really blows me away as how you seemed to know what I wanted when I couldn't properly describe it myself. I look forward to a lifetime of great show's with this guitar and I can't wait to get back in the studio!!! Thanks again for everything my friend!

I think it is fairly obvious if you are a guitar fanatic you will have heard of John Page. At least I had. So when I heard he was going to build guitars again, I was immediately interested.

Then seeing that the proto-type was very much a Tele based instrument I knew I had to jump on the opportunity to have him build me my #1 guitar!

I.ve had different builders build me guitars and most of those were great experiences. With John it was a fantastic experience.

I asked for a few things that he initially hadn.t planned on doing. Things like a traditional style Tele bridge. Also I initially wanted a Redwood top. He found me some provides and then I saw a picture of this 100 year old Douglas Fir so I asked John to use that for the top of the guitar. John ran with it, even though he had never used it, made it all work great. Gave me many a stain sample for color and in the end came up with a great color (Sunset Bronze). Also he was very forth coming with the fretboard and hooked me up with a really nice Brz Rosewood board. Every step of the way, there were pictures, explanations to my questions. All very quick and forthcoming. Also he went the extra mile when it came to the pickguard, re-designing his standard one to a type of pickguard that suited the guitar and the top even better! Seriously no corners cut (like the fact he build a special oven to bring down the moisture % a little more in the wood!)

Finally of course came the moment of truth. The guitar arrived in my hands early 2008 and wow! It was completely flawless and in sound and playability it exceeded my expectations (which were very high). I think it really speaks of the amazing skills John has. His guitar suits my need perfectly. A very full , balanced and rich sound with nice tonal flexibility.

I.ve been playing the guitar fairly consistently (switching between acoustic and electric when I play at our church) and it has never let me down. Just hearing it when I play brings a smile to my face.

I highly recommend John to anyone. Especially now with the P-1 and the P-1SV I think whatever your tonal needs are John should be able to hook you up with the tones you want.

It was a real pleasure to work with John and if I ever find myself in need of a different guitar, I am certain he.d be the first person I.d think of and approach about it.
