I build all of my guitars in a very old-school method, hand-designed (drawing table, pencils and French curves), hand-made tooling, and hand-made fabrication. I build with table-saws, band-saws, pin routers, drill presses, lots and lots of hand-sanding… no CNC machinery. Is there anything wrong with CNC machining? No, it’s just not how I choose to make my JP Custom Guitars. The way I see it, is that you’re paying for me to be as hands-on as possible with your guitar, so that’s what I do! I absolutely love the transition of concept, to drawing table, to fabrication, to playing… all with my own hands. This takes time, lots and lots of time. If you’re in a hurry, I may not be the right choice of builder for you.
As of January 2018, I am approximately 20-24 months + back-ordered. It takes me a minimum of 9 months to actually build your guitar. The rest of the time is usually waiting to get to the front of the queue. I require a 50% deposit at the time of ordering. This locks your place in queue and gives you a serial number assignment. The estimated delivery time I give you at this point is just that, estimated, the actual delivery time may vary up to several months or more.
Deposits are non-refundable. The balance plus shipping costs are due upon completion and prior to actual shipping. Changes can be made to the instrument throughout the waiting period as long as I have not gotten to the point yet being changed.
I will do everything in my power to make you the best guitar I possibly can, and to make your experience a pleasurable one. The more you can tell me about what you’re looking for, the closer I can get to your dream guitar.
Thank you for your interest in having me hand-make one of my guitars for you!
