Noah Levine's DL Baritone Gets the Guitar World Treatment

Noah Levine has played Fenway Park six times this year — not as a headliner, but as Noah Kahan's lead guitarist, standing behind one of the biggest tours in music right now. This week, Guitar World gave Levine's own story the spotlight, and his John Page Signature DL Baritone is right there in the middle of it.

From a Two-Week Internship to Stadium Stages

The Guitar World piece traces Levine's path from a Berklee College of Music student to Kahan's touring guitarist — a jump that happened almost overnight. Levine was interning with producer Gabe Simon when Kahan asked him to try a solo on an unfinished track; weeks later, a 7 a.m. phone call had Levine unenrolling from his classes to join the band, well before Stick Season turned Kahan into a headliner. Four years on, that leap has taken Levine from 1,000-seat theaters to sold-out stadium tour dates behind Kahan's chart-topping album The Great Divide.

Why the Baritone

Baritone guitar has become Levine's signature voice — first introduced to him by producer Simon, and central to his playing on Kahan tracks like "Dial Drunk" and "You're Gonna Go Far". The extended low end, he told Guitar World, gives him more reach and range without losing definition next to a full band's bass and keys.

That search for the right baritone eventually led him to John Page Guitars. As Levine put it, the low end has a "unique growl and twang" that fits the Western-leaning textures he's chasing onstage. After cycling through a Squier Cabronita and a custom Telecaster, he worked directly with John Page on a signature build — going through several prototype rounds before landing on the instrument now known as the Noah Levine Signature DL Baritone: a solid rosewood neck paired with active Fishman Fluence P-90 pickups or Lollar P-90 pickups.
